Fire Stone by ozplasmic Fire Stone by ozplasmic
A big beautiful chunk of "black Andamooka opal matrix" from the deserts of South Australia.

Cut, polished and boiled in sulphuric acid, and then lightly polished again to admire.

A piece of rock, from an ancient coral reef of "Gondwanaland".

Alchemy at it's very best.

Thanks Jo!
It's basically crystalised silica, just like natural glass.
That formed around the edges of the great inland sea that once covered inland Australia millions of years ago.
It's dry and desolate now a days!
And known as the great artesian basin.
Who could imagine that a rock could be so beautiful!
